Will using a tampon take away my virginity?
It depends on how you define virginity. In some cultures, any breakage of the hymen, the thin membrane of tissue that covers the inside opening of a vagina, would be considered a loss of virginity. This can happen, but doesn’t always happen, through any type of every day activity such as bike riding or using a tampon. Technically speaking though, the definition of virginity is the state of a person who has never engaged in sexual intercourse so using a tampon, even if it breaks your hymen, doesn’t make you lose your virginity.

Maxim products are less likely to cause yeast infections because our products are made with cotton, a material that is hypoallergenic, more breathable and resistant to attracting and creating a breeding ground for the growth of the bacteria that cause yeast infections. Other conventional and natural brands sometimes use a blend of polysynthetic materials that create a heat damp environment that can encourage the development of irritation causing yeast.
How can I relieve the irritation and itchiness I regularly feel when using tampons and pads?
Products made with 100% cotton are your best bet because cotton is hypoallergenic by nature. What looks like cotton in other brands is not always 100% cotton so make sure to read the label and look for 100% cotton tampons and pads. While you’re at it, make sure your panties are made with 100% cotton too! Click here to read more about our “Ditch the Itch” strategies.
Which products do you recommend for Adult Urinary Incontinence?
Urinary Incontinence occurs when a person loses the ability to control one’s bladder. This can happen at any age but it is more common in older people due to the weakening of the bladder over time. It is also common amongst pregnant women especially when they sneeze or maybe laugh a little too hard.
Although we don't label any of our products as incontinence products, there are many women and men who use Maxim sanitary napkins for their incontinence needs. The combination of irritation and incontinence is very common because with age, the lining of the skin thins out and thus becomes more sensitive to certain materials like the synthetics found in conventional pads. Also, synthetics create a heat-damp environment that encourages the growth of bacteria. Maxim is happy to provide a solution with our line of hypoallergenic cotton pads. Cotton is more breathable which helps reduce the risk of irritation.
We recommend any one of the following products based on the level of leakage –
- classic contour panty liners for an extra light flow
- ultra thin winged pads, regular for a light flow
- classic contour pads for a heavy flow
- maternity pads for an extra heavy flow
Are Maxim products tested on animals?
Maxim Hygiene products are Vegan and Cruelty Free and PeTA approved and recommended. We strongly oppose animal testing and abstain from the use of animal products.
