Our Story

Maxim was developed after twenty-five years of manufacturing and distribution experience in the feminine hygiene industry, held by company Founder, Kenneth Alvandi. His extensive work on every angle of the business, values for producing quality products, and having three very special women in his life (his wife and two daughters), led him to his vision of taking his years of experience 'to the max' by creating safer and more natural products for women.

Inspired by her father’s vision, Rebecca teamed up with Kenneth for Maxim’s official  launch in 2008, and since then they've been working to change the face and feel of feminine hygiene with Maxim, a Soft, Safe and Natural alternative to conventional feminine hygiene products.

As a father and daughter team, Kenneth and Rebecca combine Ken’s industry knowledge and Rebecca’s feminine perspective with their homegrown values for the Body, Earth and Health, to provide a range of natural lifestyle products to best suit personal hygienic needs.

Kenneth and Rebecca plan to make many more exciting advances in expanding the Maxim product line under the Maxim philosophy.

Personal Message/Bio

From Rebecca Alvandi, Founder’s Daughter, Supporter, & Untitled Employee (who cares, it’s just a title, right?):

"My dad has always told me not to waste. When I was a little girl it would bother me when he made sure I ate everything on my plate or made me take lunch in a reusable container, instead of the nicely packed disposable aluminum all the other kids’ moms wrapped their sandwiches in. As I grew older, however, I began to understand why this was so important to him. The lessons he instilled in me about respecting and preserving all that we are blessed with in this life is exactly what led us to this venture.

My father, Ken, came to me with the concept shortly after I had graduated from New York University. College had been a whirlwind of classes and people that exposed me to new ideas and opened my mind. I graduated feeling like a powerful, smart, and capable woman, however, I was instantly faced with disappointment upon realizing that in a city so large, I was merely one. There were still so many things I wanted to do and see; at the same time, I wanted my profession to be something I believed in and worked for the greater good, but I was unsure as to how I could make that a reality.

So, like most other college students, I decided not to work in the field I spent my school years preparing for (education) and instead explored my creative passions – I went to work for a high-end NYC fashion company. I loved it, but it was missing the “greater good” part I was craving! It was as glitzy and glamorous as Anne Hathaway’s role in the Devil Wears Prada, but, just like Anne’s character, it came time for me to leave.

When my dad proposed the idea of an organic feminine hygiene product line, things began to fall into place. Given the environmental and health values instilled in me from childhood, it felt natural for me to be part of this powerful mission. Here was my chance to take my education background and combine it with my passion for the arts, in order to convey to the world, the benefits of using organic and natural cotton products. I made it my mission to make natural feminine hygiene a fashion trend that would never die out!

There have been and will continue to be some bumps and curveballs along the way – I mean who really wants to talk feminine hygiene with their dad? And yes it gets a little weird at the conference table when we’re talking tampon fit and structure and the latest natural PMS remedy – but at the end of the day, the development of Maxim has given me the opportunity to express and share with other women unique values that benefit our world in more ways than I could have ever imagined.

Thank you Dad for this wonderful opportunity to extend women the chance to take their Body, Earth and Health to the Max, just like how you always taught me to do in life!"

Naturally Yours,

Rebecca Alvandi
